BUSTED & CAGED! Ruthless robbers, drug queens and car thieves jailed in nationwide crime crackdown

JUSTICE has finally caught up with Zimbabwe’s most brazen criminals as police clamp down hard on lawbreakers across the country, leaving a trail of prison bars and shattered underworld dreams.
In a no-holds-barred blitz that swept through the week ending 24 April 2025, the Zimbabwe Republic Police dropped the hammer on drug dealers, armed robbers, and motor vehicle syndicates – serving cold justice with hot sentences.

Top on the shame list that National police spokesperson Commsioner Paul Nyathi issued in a statement, is Enock Mukwanda who thought he could outpace the law after stealing a motor vehicle. His joyride came to a screeching halt when the long arm of the law caught up with him, earning him a jaw-dropping 12-year prison sentence.

Not far behind are Nigel Matongora and Hope Masoka, a gun-toting duo nabbed for armed robbery. Their Bonnie-and-Clyde stint ended in handcuffs, and they now await the full wrath of the courts.
In another sting, Collen Gweme tampered with the nation’s power supply and got 10 years for violating the Electricity Act. Meanwhile, Cephas Mukombwe was caught in the illegal gem trade and slapped with five years under the Precious Stones Trade Act.

The drug underworld also took a hit as Elizabeth Marikafu was cornered for dealing in dangerous substances. Her eight-year sentence is a clear warning that the days of peddling poison are numbered.
And in a double blow to the car theft syndicate, Isaac Mafa and Brian Tinomudaishe Kaseke were jailed for eight years for motor vehicle theft, plus an extra four years for fraud—proving crime doesn’t pay, but it sure can cost you your freedom.

Police have vowed to keep the heat on. “We will continue working with the Judiciary to ensure harsh sentences are passed on these offenders,” reads the statement.

Crime may try to hide, but justice is on patrol.
