PRESIDENT Mnangagwa is set for a busy working schedule in the Midlands Province this week and next, during which he will commission and launch major infrastructure projects in Kwekwe and Zvishavane.
Tomorrow, the President — who is Chancellor of all State universities — will commission the Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa Midlands State University (MSU) Law School in Kwekwe before presiding over the institution’s 26th graduation ceremony.
Four days later, on September 15, President Mnangagwa will celebrate his 83rd birthday in Zvishavane by commissioning the US$29 million Midlands Park Housing Project, a modern development designed to accommodate 1 000 families.
Confirming the programme, Minister of State for Midlands Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Owen Ncube, said the President’s visit will mark a new phase in transformative development for the province.
“His Excellency will commission the Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa Law School in Kwekwe, a modern academic facility that will enhance legal education and research, positioning Zimbabwe as a hub for producing highly skilled legal professionals,” he said.

Minister Ncube said the state-of-the-art law school, located on the outskirts of Amaveni high-density suburb, underlines the Government’s commitment to strengthening human capital development and modern infrastructure.
“This facility will provide a conducive learning environment, equipped with a Moot Court, an e-library, hostels, lecture rooms and modern technology. It is a game-changer in legal education,” he said.
Built on a 50-hectare piece of land donated by Kwekwe City Council, the facility will also house the faculties of agriculture and natural resources, and the built environment. It is the first MSU graduation ceremony to be held outside the main Gweru campus. The double-storey building will feature 110 rooms, including lecture rooms, moot courts, a library, hostels, a kitchen, a hospital and staff quarters, among other key facilities.
“On Thursday, His Excellency, the President, Dr E.D. Mnangagwa will also preside over the first MSU graduation ceremony to be held outside the Gweru main campus at the new Kwekwe campus,” said Minister Ncube.
On Monday, President Mnangagwa will officiate in Zvishavane, commissioning the Midlands Park Housing Project, constructed through a partnership between the Public Service Commission (PSC) and First Mutual Life Assurance Company. The development includes 156 modern residential flats and 504 student apartments in Maglas, providing improved housing for staff and learners.
“The flats and student accommodation will provide modern housing facilities that will improve student welfare and staff living conditions,” said Minister Ncube.
He said the President will also preside over the ground-breaking ceremony for another major project, before addressing the nation at Mandava Stadium, where he will lead the Munhumutapa Day commemorations.
“After these activities, President Mnangagwa will address the nation at Mandava Stadium in Zvishavane, where he will also preside over the Munhumutapa Day commemorations.
“This historic celebration will honour Zimbabwe’s heritage, unity, and vision for development under the Second Republic,” said Minister Ncube.
Munhumutapa Day, first celebrated last year at the Great Zimbabwe Monuments in Masvingo, honours Zimbabwe’s heritage, unity and vision under the Second Republic. This year’s event, expected to attract more than 30 000 people, coincides with the President’s 83rd birthday.
Munhumutapa Day reflects the spirit of the great Munhumutapa rulers and their vision for Zimbabwe’s future.
