adminIslamabad — Pakistan’s former captain Salman Butt has confessed his role in the 2010 spot-fixing scandal and has submitted a written apology to the Pakistan Cricket Board. The PCB released Butt’s signed statement yesterday in which the cricketer accepts “being a party to the bowling of two deliberate no-balls in the Lord’s test match.”
The ICC banned Butt and fast bowlers Mohammad Amir and Mohammad Asif for a minimum of five years for breaching the sport’s code of conduct. Under the ICC’s revised anti-corruption code, Amir was allowed to compete in Pakistani domestic cricket in February, seven months before his ban would end on September 1.
Butt says he’s ready to undergo rehabilitation under the supervision of the PCB. — AP
