Butterphly BBA D-day . . . Will she survive eviction?

Tomorrow is the day shy and lazy Butterphly (real name Tariro Mharapara) will realise she is in the Big Brother Africa (BBA) reality show to win people’s votes by entertaining them to stay longer in the House.

The housemate who is up for eviction from the House has been one of the most relaxed characters in that show, often keeping to herself — something which has disappointed many back home. She has been in the House for a long time as she has not been nominated before, compared to other housemates who have been on the chopping block, week in, week out.

But, the question is, will she survive eviction considering that she has not been able to sufficiently entertain Africa? A first time watcher of BBA cannot be blamed for thinking Butterphly is not part of the reality show as she is rarely captured by the 100s of cameras in that House. The only time she is captured is when she is sleeping — which is most of the time or eating. Not much entertainment has been provided by Butterphly.

So poor has been her performance that evicted Housemates Lillian (Nigeria) and Esther (Uganda) felt robbed questioning how Butterphly was still in the House as they expected her to leave before them.

“I was totally shocked when I was evicted before someone like Butterphly who didn’t showcase herself by displaying her strengths and talents in the house.

“How many times did she even come out on television or, better yet, do anything to be remembered for?” questioned Lillian.

Esther concurred saying: “What did Butterphly even do in the house? It was a platform to display to Africa who she was and showcase her talents, but she just didn’t do anything.”

Only Butterphly knows her strategy and will share it with everyone else when she leaves the House. But whatever it is, she needs to consider modifying it to include some fun so as to give viewers a reason to want to watch her. As it is, there are not many reasons to want to watch her.

If she survives tomorrow, she will have Housemates like Mr 265 (Malawi) and Permithias (Namibia) to thank as they are assisting her to come out of her shell. They have been somehow getting closer to her, trying to be involved in relationships. But, the Power Fm DJ is clearly not interested in any romantic relationship in the House as she this week took a stern turn with Permithias for having kissed her. She told him a kiss was sacred to her stating that if the two were to carry on as friends, Permithias would have to respect that and her space. She levelled with him as someone she considered a friend inside the House, saying while he was the touch touchy feely type, she was not. Permithias often takes refuge with her when life in the game is taking its toll.

However, tomorrow is D-day and Butterphly will learn of her fate when Head of House, Idris announces that he put her up for eviction. Besides the Zimbabwean vote, Butterphly may get another vote from Malawi because of her alliance with Mr 265.

Butterphly is up against Ellah (Uganda), Frankie (Rwanda), Nhlanhla (South Africa), Permithias and Trezagah (Mozambique). Frankie and Nhlanhla’s chances of being evicted are slim as they have proved popular, judging by the country votes they command each time they are put on the block.
