HARARE City’s aggressive forward Francisco Zekumbawire and FC Platinum head coach Norman Mapeza have been named the best player and coach for the months of September and October.

Despite his side Harare City struggling in the period under review winning two matches out of six, the big Iminyela born Zekumbawire has been a force to reckon with in the Sunshine Boys’ line up.

His best and certainly most memorable show was the 1-0 win over Highlanders where he scored the only goal of the afternoon and spent the entire match terrorising the Highlanders defenders at will.

Even if the match is not considered by the selectors, Zekumbawire again tormented the Bosso central defence at will during the semi-finals of the Chibuku Super Cup and is the sole reason why they are in the final of the Chibuku Super Cup where they will clash with Mapeza’s FC Platinum.

Highlanders turned the striker down in 2013 on the advice of a Hwange coach who said his scoring rate was below expectations.

The platinum miners are different under Mapeza, displaying some sleek brand of football that has won them admirers even outside their support base.

During the period under review, the former Monomotapa and Warriors gaffer registered three wins, two draws and a single loss, in the process collecting 11 out of a possible 18 points.

The awards carry prize money of $500. With Harare City and FC Platinum playing at home in their last League matches, the duo are likely to be presented with their prizes in front of their home supporters.
