BIG Brother Africa (BBA) Hotshots Housemates Butterphly and JJ are expected in the country today after fiercely contesting for the BBA ultimate prize of $300,000. Welcome parties have already been lined up for the pair who represented the country well in the reality show and made history for being the only two from one country to make it to the finals.
They also did the country proud as they conducted themselves well during their stay in the BBA House, compared to Roki and Maneta who were disqualified from the same game after fighting.
Butterphly and JJ however lost to Tanzania’s Idris who was on Sunday evening named the BBA winner. For his efforts, Idris who beat 25 Housemates from 12 countries, was given $300,000.
Although Butterphly and JJ will be back home and probably back to their jobs, the two former Housemates have been urged by Big Brother to continue playing the game, especially considering that they walked out of the House empty-handed, but with fame. Over the years, losing Housemates have not been deterred by that, but have used the BBA platform to their advantage. Some including Pokello, Elikem and Dillish have set up their own businesses, while Vimbai, Maneta, Uti, Munya, Karen, Abigirl and Gaetano have used the exposure to boost their big screen careers.
It remains to be seen if Butterphly and JJ will be awarded for their efforts by President Robert Mugabe who has over the years awarded former housemates who excelled at the reality show.
In 2010, the President awarded Munya Chidzonga $300,000 for coming second at the reality show. A year later, a Zimbabwean, Wendall Parson won the reality show and was also awarded by the President for raising the country’s flag high.
He was given $50,000 while another representative, Vimbai Mutinhiri was also given $10,000 for representing the country well.
