Buy Zimbabwe, the organization championing local products and services for the past 13 years, has announced a major restructuring initiative to better support emerging entrepreneurs and innovators. The move comes as the organization seeks to adapt to evolving market trends and ensure wider access to markets for local businesses.
In a press statement, Buy Zimbabwe says it has played a pivotal role in increasing the visibility and acceptance of local products, witnessing a rise in shelf space allocation for domestic goods from 10 percent to over 50 percent in many cases.
The organization has also noted a surge in new products, particularly from young entrepreneurs, women, and small to medium enterprises (SMEs).
Recognising the need to further support these burgeoning businesses, Buy Zimbabwe is undergoing a significant transformation, the organisation said.
An interim team has been appointed to oversee this process, with Munyaradzi Hwengwere taking on the dual role of CEO and Chairman. Alois Burutsa, formerly General Manager, will transition to the role of Marketing and Sales Consultant.
A key component of the restructuring process is a comprehensive study of consumer preferences for both emerging and established brands. Buy Zimbabwe has commissioned Select Research to conduct this in-depth study, the findings of which will inform the revamp of the prestigious Buy Zimbabwe Awards into the new Zimbrands Awards.
And in a move to broaden participation and gather insights from across the country, the Zimbrands Awards will be held in several provincial cities, including Bulawayo, Gweru, Mutare, and Masvingo, culminating in the national awards ceremony in Harare.
Buy Zimbabwe says it remains steadfast in its commitment to promoting local products and services, working in collaboration with the government, businesses, and other stakeholders.
The organization’s overarching goal is to foster job creation, wealth generation, and national pride by encouraging the continued adoption and preference for locally made goods.
