Buz announces candidates

THE Basketball Union of Zimbabwe (Buz) has announced candidates to contest in the forthcoming elections at Mtshabezi High School in Matabeleland South on January 29.

Incumbent president Joe Mujuru is seeking re-election and is set to face competition from David Pick, who was nominated by Harare province, as well as Allen Mavhunga, who got his nomination from Nash.

Sikhumbuzo Ndlovu, Sunny Mbofana and Charmaine Chamboko battle it out for the secretary-general post, while Brighton Ncube will go uncontested for the treasurer general role.

The other post that will go uncontested is that of the commercial commission where Simba Munamba is uncontested.

For the women and youth commission Tracy Phiri and Jacqueline Chironga will go head-to-head for the top women’s job. The technical commission will see Brighton Navaya square off with Tonderai Shasha.

Theodore Weale will face the challenge of Jonhson Shumba and Taurai Chitsinde for the athletes’ commission role.

The competitions commission poll will see Mthulisi Makhosana, Ndumiso Mabhena and Gidieon Chikopa wrestling for the post.

The new version and shorter version of basketball, the 3 X 3, will see Pendric Ndlovu, Nash Majoni and Ignatius Yesaya all bidding to take charge.

The Buz congress shall consist of a maximum of two delegates each per affiliated provincial association, with the right to one vote. The voting right shall be granted to the first delegate if both are present.

The two delegates must present a document signed by the president of their provincial association proving that they are delegates representing that association. – @innocentskizoe
