Top Zimbabwean rhumba outfit BV Labien Musica or “Ngwasuma Boys” have re-branded and are set to start the New Year with a show at Samaz Place in Mufakose tonight. The group has suffered splits in the past few years with some members leaving to form their own outfits while others opted to return, including chanter Freddy Atumisi and lead guitarist Doctor Loboko who have rejoined the group.

Band director Sam Ndingindi has promised fireworks at the show saying that the group is now more focused and ready to claim top position in local rhumba circles.

“We have a new song called “Cellphone” which we began sampling during the festive season and received excellent responses from the fans.

The track is also accompanied by a new dance of the same name,” he said.

The band is set to launch their sixth album in 2014 although their current offering “Kechi 1- Zvirise” is still fresh and keeping revellers entertained with songs like “Officer Ndiregererei” and “Ndopfeka Malabels” among others.

The group consists of, among others, Alex Mwenda (vocalist and chief choreographer), Dr Nano Loboko (lead guitar), Freddy Atumisi and Eugene “Tbass Kaboko” Muronzi who is the lead singer and also the bass guitar player.
