ZIMBABWE Music Awards (Zima) organisers have hailed Bulawayo artistes for submitting their productions for consideration ahead of this year’s edition of the awards to be held in Harare on October 14.With only four days left for the Zima submission deadline to elapse, over 20 Bulawayo musicians have so far submitted their productions.
Zima production assistant, Kganya Ndlovu, who was in Bulawayo over the weekend to meet artistes in the city, hailed them for showing interest in the awards through the submission of their entries.
“More than 20 artistes from Bulawayo have submitted their entries for the awards of all categories, though I cannot reveal their identities.
“Zima’s return to Bulawayo was to make sure that all our artistes have the information they needed for making their submissions and this was important for us as the closing dates are approaching,” she said.
Ndlovu said Bulawayo was packed with talent which has been neglected for too long, in various awards that have taken place in the country.
“I would like to say that Bulawayo has a lot of talent that has not been explored and has for a very long time been ignored. Zima wishes to uncover this talent through the awards and we hope that they will get all the necessary support from the country,” she said.
Ndlovu said Zima’s aim was to be inclusive of all musicians from around the country as they are a national awarding body that works with all musicians.
“For Zima to make sense it must be national, meaning that artistes from all provinces must be afforded equal opportunity to participate,” she said.
Submissions of entries are being done through the post office and electronically via the Zima website, www.zimaawards.co.zw.
Each entry is supposed to be accompanied by three album copies, singles or DVD’s, a profile and pictures of the artists.
