TWELVE Bulawayo musicians and DJs will today converge on White City Stadium for a show dubbed Jaiyiva. The show, which has been organised by O2 Squad to promote local artistes, will kick off at 6pm. Artistes such as Chase Skuza of the Banolila fame, Jeys Marabini, Clement Magwaza, Ndolwane Super Sounds fronted by Martin Sibanda, Sandra Ndebele, Imbali Yabantu Stars, Universe Stars and Ndux Malax Junior are billed to perform.
Local DJs who will be on the decks include tribal house outfit Djembe Monks, DJs Dodo, TK, Tadie, and Jza.

Onias Nyika, promoter of the show, said the objective of the gig was to promote Bulawayo artistes.
“I realised that there were no music promoters promoting Bulawayo artistes. We have people who bring in artistes from outside the country and city, but they shun the musicians that we have hence my decision to organise this event,” he said.

Nyika said people should appreciate artistes from their own city and support them always.
Ndolwane Super Sounds spokesperson, Thandazani Nyoni, said morale was high in the Ndolwane camp as they were geared to entertain the Bulawayo crowd.

“There have been a lot of requests from people in Bulawayo that we should hold more shows in the city. We are ready for the show and we promise the best only,” said Nyoni.

He said they would perform tracks from their latest album and others from yesteryear. Ndux Malax Junior said: “I will have to be at my best for the fans. There will be new and old dance moves that we will perform with my group,” he said.

Clement Magwaza, a tshimbi tshimbi artiste who rose to fame last year at the Intwasa Festival, said he had new dancers who would perform highly energetic dances. He said he would also use the show to promote his new album Mpalakazi.
