A BULAWAYO-BASED association, Bulawayo Citizens, have backed President Mugabe’s inclusion of Mrs Bona Chikore to his delegation during a recent trip to Japan. The association further called on the President not to hesitate to include her in any future trips, stating that she was an exemplary youth and a Zimbabwean citizen.
In a statement by the association’s chairperson, Mr William Nyathi and secretary Mr Mpfariseni Muleya, they said President Mugabe had every right to choose whoever he wanted to be in his delegation.
“We are 100 percent in support of the President in his inclusion of Cde Bona Ouma Chikore in his delegation to Japan and other trips in the near future. We want to remind all and sundry that Bona is a citizen of Zimbabwe and is entitled to enjoy all the rights like the rest of citizenry.
“We need not overemphasise that the President has a right to choose trustworthy people to be around him and travel with him. We heartfully believe Bona remains the best choice as a member of the delegation mindful that in the past, wolves in sheep skin like traitor Didymus Mutasa and others found places as delegates,” reads the statement.
The association goes on further to call on the President to give Bona a ministerial position noting that she was an exemplary youth who had shown interest in following in her father’s footsteps.
“Bona has been exemplary, as a student, first family daughter, a wife and above all a Zimbabwean citizen. She has acquitted herself well nationally and internationally. As Bulawayo citizens we recommend that she be assigned a cabinet post, preferably with a youth portfolio as she has excelled in that area, we urge all progressive forces in the country to support this noble idea.
“We wish to remind the opposition and those in their league that the President was given the mandate to rule this country after winning overwhelmingly. The opposition should busy itself with putting its crumbling house in order, how can they claim to see a speck in Zanu-PF while they cannot see the log in their eyes? The opposition should stop this hypocrisy,” reads the statement.
Bulawayo Citizens is an association which was formed last year, whose mandate is to help Zanu-PF reclaim Bulawayo lost seats during elections.
