ENDOWED with good ball control, combative play and ability to cover for his roving fellow teammates, unheralded Bulawayo Cityas new signing Kelvin Madzongwe has been a marvel to watch in the past six games.

Madzongwe (26) joined City during the mid-season transfer window period following his academic and football stints in the United States of America.

His first game for Bulawayo City was a home loss to Castle Lager Premier Soccer League pacesetters FC Platinum in late July.

a?I played college football at Boston University where I studied for a Bachelor of Science Degree in Communications, majoring in public relations and marketing,a? said the holding midfielder.

Before he left the country for USA, Madzongwe had playing stints at the now defunct Njube Sundowns and Chicken Inn.

a?Those are the two professional clubs I played for before I went to study abroad. I also played for Highlanders juniors and Sparrows in the Division Two League,a? said the former Mpopoma High (Advanced Level) and Njube High (Ordinary Level) student.

By the end of next year, the player intends to go back abroad to pursue a Masters Degree.

a?aI want to go back to the USA and do my Masters. I am hoping to do so at the end of next year. However, that will depend on getting the right funding. I also want to venture into coaching. I will definitely do my best,a? added Madzongwe who has partnered well with in-form duo of Welcome a?Waroowaa? Ndiweni and Xolisani a?Scaraa? Moyo in Cityas midfield department.

Ndiweni and Moyo are experienced players and it has been courtesy of their ball artistry and wizardry that the Try Ncube-mentored side has made a steady rise on the log table after accounting for big clubs that include second placed CAPS United and relegation-threatened Mutare City in their most recent matches.

Ahead of their Week 23 encounter against Ngezi Platinum set for Saturday at Baobab Stadium, Bulawayo City sit on position seven on the log with 31 points, one behind sixth placed Harare City.
