Byo hosts SMEs funding expo

Business Reporter
THE Ministry of Small to Medium Enteprises (SMEs) and Cooperative Development in collaboration with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) will hold a two-day expo in Bulawayo this week to create awareness on funding facilities available for the growing micro, small to medium enterprises sector.

An estimated five million people are employed in the MSMEs sector, which is increasingly becoming a strong economic force in the country.

The sector needs sound financing to unlock its potential and create more job opportunities at a time when major companies are facing operational challenges and offloading workers.

The ministry said in a notice yesterday that the expo was aimed at promoting financial linkages for the sector and “awareness on funding facilities available for MSMEs and cooperatives”.

The event will be held the Bulawayo Civic Centre on Thursday and Friday from 8 AM to 5 PM under the theme “Promoting financial linkages for micro, small to medium enterprises and cooperative development”.

“MSMEs, cooperatives, entrepreneurs and business start ups — don’t miss out on this excellent opportunity to meet with financiers,” the ministry said.
