Byo Metro Cricket League begins

ACTION gets underway in the four-team Bulawayo Cricket Metropolitan with two fixtures lined up this morning.
Defending champions Emakhandeni start off with an away fixture against Queens Sports Club. Emakhandeni head into the fixture without two of their star players, off spinner John Nyumbu and top order batsman Brian Chari who are away on national duty. Nyumbu is with the national team which heads off to Bangladesh today while Chari is part of the Zimbabwe A side which is preparing for matches against Bangladesh A in Harare.

However, despite the absence of the two, Emakhandeni still have enough players to lead them to victory. Players such as Thabo Mboyi, Cunningham Ncube and Mbekezeli Mabuza have the necessary experience to lead Amakhosi to victory.

Last season’s runner-up Bulawayo Athletic Club square off against Roosters. Medium pace bowler Tawanda Mupariwa is also not  available for BAC  this weekend due to personal commitments. BAC have proved over the years to have depth with no reliance on the established players. All rounder Fleming Nkomo leads a BAC team which finished tied on the same number of points with Emakhandeni last season.

Fixtures
Today: Queens Sports Club v Emakhandeni (Queens), Roosters v Bulawayo Athletic Club (BAC)
Both matches start at 9.30am.
