BULAWAYO Polytechnic and Namibia’s Welwitchia University have convened an international research conference in Victoria Falls, bringing together educators, industry leaders, and policymakers to discuss a course for skills development in the era of the Fourth Industrial Revolution.

The two-day Joint International Research Conference is running under the theme “Industrialising Futures: Integrating Skills, Digital Innovation, and Technology in Sustainable TVET.”

The event gathers presenters from across the SADC region to address critical issues ranging from artificial intelligence in pedagogy to rural industrialisation and gender equality in technical and vocational training.

In an interview Bulawayo Polytechnic Principal, Eng Chiedza Masanganise, underscored the pivotal role of the institution in shaping the nation’s workforce.

“We are responsible for human capital development and it is key in development of the nation itself and towards Vision 2030.

The idea is to integrate technology. We are going regional and eventually global in making sure that the nation joins in the development and this is what we are trying to do as we are able to contribute into that development,” she said.

Eng Masanganise highlighted the strategic partnership with the Namibian institution as a vehicle for regional integration.

“For this particular conference, we have partnered with Welwitchia University, which is in Namibia. That way we are working together within the region, the SADC region, to bring in that human capital which will work within our region and eventually the continent and the country as a whole

“We exchange ideas, we exchange technologies, and that way we make sure that we are integrating in terms of technology and innovation,” she said.
