Byo pool players to select squads for Clash of Cities

THE Bulawayo Professional Pool Players’ Association (BPPPA) held challenge matches in preparation for the Clash of the Cities set for June 28 in Harare.

BPPPA public relations officer Tapiwa Sikwila said the players had to be continuously playing to improve their game as their Harare opponents were top-notch.

“Challenge matches are being organised for the players to prepare for the clash and this is the only way they can improve their form.

“This time things will not be easy because we’re not playing at home, so the pressure will be much higher,” said Sikwila.

He said there would be four rounds of challenge matches to select players to represent Bulawayo in the Open Men and Women’s categories.

He said the challenge matches would be held today and on Monday, Wednesday and Friday next week and 12 players would be selected for the men and 10 for the women’s sides.

Results: Open Boys’ — Lindani Gumbo 7-6 Maradona Gobo, Elders’ (35 years and above) — Tendai Charuka 3-5 Bekezela Nkala

Women’s — Robin Gilgwera 4-5 Priscilla “Vari” Chisoro.
