Byo Reloaded retells the story of Bulawayo

AN online broadcast show dubbed “Byo Reloaded” is set to change the face of the city’s entertainment arena as it broadens its horizons in telling the story of Bulawayo. Broadcast on the social networking site, You Tube, the show commands a huge following and plans are under way to flight it on television in the near future.

A brainchild of Trevor Ncube and Naboth Rizzla, the show is a bigger and better version of Byo Swagg which was hosted by popular socialite and Bulawayo’s own Bonang Matheba, Mbo Mahocs.

Matheba is a well known South African television personality and fashion icon.
Byo Reloaded has featured several social events that include the Pokello Homecoming party at Horizon Pub and drag races at the Bulawayo Circuit.

Ncube said the main aim of the show is to change the world’s perception of Bulawayo and Zimbabwe at large by showcasing the cosmopolitan side of the City of Kings.

“The show is actually a comeback of Byo Swagg, which focused only on the Bulawayo entertainment industry though it has a holistic approach. Byo Reloaded has a wider scope as it also tackles social issues and other projects,” said Ncube.

He revealed that the initial target was the diaspora who perceive Bulawayo’s story as all about doom and gloom. “The world has negative perceptions about Bulawayo hence we saw it ideal to come up with the show because no-one can tell our story better than ourselves.
“The response to the first season of the show was overwhelming,” said Ncube.

Mbo Mahocs also added that the project had been an eye-opener and would help dismiss claims by prophets of doom that the city’s arts industry had died a natural death.

“I am grateful for being part of the show. I believe somehow it is going to dispel the notion that Bulawayo’s showbiz industry has died,” said Mahocs.
