THE Bulawayo Show will be celebrating its first anniversary at the Rainbow Cinema tomorrow with a premiere of its latest animation.
Video clips of the popular animations took social media networks by storm last year. So popular were they that producers decided to launch them on the silver screen. Thereafter, three shows were held at the Rainbow Cinemas in Bulawayo.
The shows, a brain child of Ingwe Studios and Thabani Lunga — a fourth-year medical student at the Perm State Medical Academy in Russia, depict various social, political and cultural issues in Zimbabwe.
Zenzele Ndebele, executive producer of The Bulawayo Show, said they would be celebrating the show’s success and support it has received for the past year.
“It’s been a good year for us as we’ve managed to grow The Bulawayo Show as a brand through the support of people, not only from Bulawayo, but across the globe. They’ve been buying our merchandise and have shown us that one can make a living with art,” said Ndebele.
He said they had since been approached by companies such as TelOne, BBC and Radio Dialogue to flight their adverts on their shows.
Ndebele said during the celebrations tomorrow, guests would be entertained with two hours of animations which would cover a vast number of topics on issues which happen in people’s day to day lives.
“Those who’ll attend the celebrations will be kept laughing throughout the animation which will cover issues to do with domestic violence and corruption among others. Guests will also be entertained by our popular characters Ratu, Sox and Ntuthu,” Ndebele said.
He said they would take the latest Bulawayo Show to other towns including Plumtree, Beitbridge and Hwange.
The Bulawayo show, which recently partnered with YA FM, a new commercial radio station in Zvishavane, is working on producing cartoons for children.
