POPULAR animated series The Bulawayo Show has roped in radio character Mudhara Zobha to be one of their characters so as to expand the show’s appeal to other parts of the country. The Bulawayo Show last Friday celebrated its first anniversary at the Rainbow Cinemas City 1. Zenzele Ndebele, the executive producer of the cartoon strip, said they were hard at work to produce the script for the former Power FM Breakfast Show co-host.

“We’re working on an animated character called Mudhara Zobha whose first clip will be out in two weeks time online. We’re at the script writing stage of the animation,” said Ndebele.

He said the roping in of Mudhara Zobha was meant to make the Bulawayo show appeal to more people in Zimbabwe.

“We agreed with Mudhara Zobha that if we combine our efforts we’ll create something that’ll spread across the country. Some people were asking that we use subtitles on our animations because they couldn’t understand IsiNdebele. So as part of expanding our brand we decided to incorporate Shona and in the long run other languages through similar characters,” said Ndebele.

He said by end of the year they would premiere a movie of Mudhara Zobha in Harare.

“We hope by the end of the year Mudhara Zobha’s video clips will be shown in Harare. We know that this will be successful as a lot of people know him and they’ll quickly identify with the character,” said Ndebele.

“Mudhara Zobha is a man who has three wives. He’ll be sharing how he juggles being married and making ends meet in the capital.”

Turning to their first anniversary, Ndebele said all went well although it was not a full house.

“There were 123 paying customers at the show when we were expecting 150 which is a full house. Although we couldn’t fill up the place we appreciate the people who came to celebrate with us in these economic conditions,” said Ndebele.

He said during the celebrations, The Bulawayo Show merchandise was flying off the shelves.
