THE Zimbabwe National Liberation War Veterans Association splinter group in Bulawayo has called for the expulsion of their provincial chairman Cde Cephas Ncube for defending the ousted national chairman Cde Christopher Mutsvangwa.

Cde Mutsvangwa, who is also the Minister of Welfare Services for War Veterans, War Collaborators, Former Political Detainees and Restrictees, was booted out on Friday.

Cde Ncube came out guns blazing the following day saying his boss’ ouster was null and void.

He was quoted in the Press saying Cde Mutsvangwa was shown the door by people who are not part of the national executive and therefore, ignorant of the association procedures.

A war veterans’ group led by Cde Roy Maphosa said Cde Ncube was an illegitimate war veterans’ chairperson as he was “smuggled” into leadership.

They accused him of being the organisation’s former chairperson, Jabulani Sibanda’s ally as he served in his executive as the secretary for information and publicity.

Cde Maphosa said Bulawayo war veterans were behind Cde Mutsvangwa’s ouster as he failed to meet resolutions set by the country’s liberators.

He said instead, Cde Mutsvangwa has become a villain who goes around badmouthing Zanu-PF members.

“He has forgotten why he was elected. He’s not disciplined. We’re following up on resolutions that we made in Masvingo. We agreed that a leader who fails to meet set resolutions must be recalled. We’re the ones who appointed him and now we’re recalling him,” he said.

Cde Maphosa said the war veterans’ constitution was suspended and it was a shame that Cde Ncube continued to make reference to it.

“In Masvingo we suspended the war veterans’ constitution. We don’t have a constitution but Cde Ncube doesn’t know that because he wasn’t there when that resolution was made. We also resolved that those who served in JB’s executive shouldn’t hold office but in Bulawayo we continued with the same executive. They only rotated their positions,” he said.

Cde Maphosa said Cde Ncube was singing in the wilderness as structures have turned against him.

He said they stood by the resolution made by the national executive to suspend Cde Mutsvangwa.
