Cde Mandi Chimene, who is also Manicaland Provincial Affairs Minister has replaced Cde Christopher Mutsvangwa as chairperson of the Zimbabwe National Liberation War Veterans Association.

This follows a vote of no confidence passed in Cde Mutsvangwa and two other executive members at the weekend.

Cde George Mlala, from Bulawayo Province deputises Cde Chimene while Cde Michael Mapfumo from Harare is now the secretary general after he replaced Cde Victor Matemadanda. Cde Headman Moyo was vice chairman in the previous executive.

“Other positions are not affected,” said Cde Mlala last night.

“We targeted these three because the office bearers were trying to lead the people astray. Cde Monica Mutsvangwa had been given a position there but she was not elected in Masvingo, so there’s no one replacing her.”
