THE Civil Aviation Authority of Zimbabwe (CAAZ) in Bulawayo on Friday held its Wellness Fair at the Joshua Mqabuko Nkomo International Airport.

The airport manager Mr Edmore Murungweni said the Fair is an annual event to celebrate the wellness of workers at the authority.

“We identify ourselves with our staff as they are the key stakeholders in our operations. Even if we have technical power, there is no way you can do without the human factor,” said Mr Murungweni.

“We are, therefore, recognising the need to have a worker that is mentally and physically healthy, so that they give their best. Aviation is mostly technical work which needs a healthy worker who is sensitive to what he needs to do. If you set a target for an ailing person, you cannot expect something out of it, so we need a healthy workforce that is productive.”

Mr Murungweni said this year’s event was better than last year’s in terms of turnout from different organisations that came to participate. He said 25 organisations came to exhibit at the Fair compared to last year where they 17 companies participated.

Some of the companies that exhibited were the National Social Security Association (NSSA), Nyaradzo Funeral Services, First Mutual Life Assurance Company, CIMAS, EMRAS, Doves, Bonvie, and National Business Society (NBS).

“We are now on our fourth year running. Every year we are growing interms of companies coming on board to work with us. We really appreciate that different organisations took their time to give out information that is generally not easily accessible to our work force,” he said.

Friday was the exhibition day. On Saturday there will be sports and a 5 km fun run. –@lvydvy1
