REGISTRATION deadline for the Caf C coaching clinic to be held in Plumtree in two weeks’ time has been set for Friday.
The Caf C clinic is open to Level Two coaching certificate holders that have been practicing for at least a year.
Zifa Southern Region technical and development committee administrator Tumediso Mokoena Ndlovu said the Caf C licence training will be held at Plumtree High School from August 15-29.
“Those interested in participating in the Caf C coaching clinic have to register at their nearest Zifa offices by Friday August 4. As a country, we have to send to Caf participants’ information two weeks before the start of the course for logistical purposes.
“The course fee is $200 and it is important that whoever dreams of coaching at a higher level attends this programme because Zifa is not backtracking on standardisation of coaches,” said Ndlovu.
At the beginning of the 2017 season, the national association moved to implement strict standardisation for local football coaching as part of a cocktail of interventions to improve the quality of the game in Zimbabwe.
Zifa directed that all top-flight coaches should possess a Caf A licence this season, a move which is a basic requirement under the Fifa Club Licensing system.
Under the new Zifa requirement, First Division coaches should have a Caf B badge as a minimum requirement, while their assistants should be Caf C or Zifa Level Four licence holders.
In the Second Division, a coach has to be in possession of a Caf C licence, while their understudies are required to have a Level Three qualification as a minimum standard.
The coaching standards have also cascaded down to Division Three, tertiary institutions and schools.
For secondary schools, a Zifa Level Two badge is now mandatory and primary school football coaches should hold at least a Level Two certificate.
