Caf rejects Al Ahly-Pirates match postponement

Confederation of African Football (Caf) has rejected Al Ahly’s request to postpone their Caf champions league match against Orlando Pirates.
The defending champions wanted the fixture postponed by five days due to inability to find a stadium to host the match. The development was confirmed by the Al Ahly club on their website.

“Club management received rejection letter from Caf stating their refusal to Ahly’s request to postpone the match against Orlando Pirates of South Africa in the group stage of the African Champions League to be held on 4th August.”

“Football Director Hadi Khashaba is in contact with security authorities to get security clearances to set up the meeting in a lighted stadium instead of playing in El Gouna under the high temperature during the day in the month of Ramadan.”

Al Ahly drew 1-1 with Zamalek in their Group A while Orlando Pirates were held to a barren draw against AC Leopards as all teams are tied on a point each. — supersport.com
