For leading the Zambezi Tour order of merit Cairns believes it is a great motivator ahead of the prestigious Zimbabwe Open.
“I think it is good for me especially preparing for the next biggest event on the Sunshine Tour the Zimbabwe Open,” Cairns said.
“I know there are good players here and they can do well in the upcoming event and what is important is to practice now.
“If we stay focused we can overturn South Africa’s dominance in the tour and there are people who are capable of doing that,” Cairns said.
Muhammad Mandhu’s Sunshine Tour experience is paying back as he is tied on second position with Robson Saurombe with US$1 650 each.
Tongo Charamba’s second place finish in the Chairman’s Cup can give the locals another sigh of relief as he is one of the players to look forward to at the prestigious Zimbabwe Open.
The two-time Sunshine Tour winner is standing on US$1 366 while Shane Pringle who did not take part in the second event is in fifth place.
Ignatius Mketekete and Trainos Muradzikwa are on on the US$1 254 mark and South Africa’s Irvin Mazibuko is on US$1 116.
Local professionals will now wait for the biggest event on the local calendar the Zimbabwe Open.
