Early August saw rappers face public backlash after a disastrous Annual Made in Bulawayo hip-hop concert.
However, award winning rapper Cal_Vin and Ingwebu ambassador Floppy X made sure hip-hop fans were not to be crestfallen again by putting on blinder performances at the Skyz Metro FM first anniversary party held at White City Stadium last week.
Cal_Vin said he felt great with his rendition and it was an honour performing alongside house music superstar Professor from South Africa.
“I always want to put on thriller performances for fans to keep supporting us. I am very much humbled with the reaction of fans as their support and approval is what keeps us going as musicians,” he said.
Cal_Vin said he was now looking forward to wowing followers at Large City Hall Car Park where he will be performing alongside South Africa’`s richest rapper Casper Nyovest on 15 September, and in Harare where he will be performing alongside Emtee, the South African rapper who took Africa by storm in 2014, with his hit Roll Up and album Avery.
“Skyz Metro FM motivated me to work extra hard because I felt I could do better after my performance despite the fans saying I really slayed. The month of September will be very busy for me as I will be sharing the stage with the likes of Casper and Emtee, one of renowned rappers of South Africa.
“I’m no longer an upcoming artiste, but I have won more than five awards in Zimbabwe but I have realised that when it comes to payment for our performances at various concerts, event promoters give more money to foreign artistes which is not fair,” he said.
Cal_Vin animated fans with his exhilarating hits namely Jeki, Amanga, Uthando, Izandla Emoyeni and Z’khuphan which left fans very much delighted.
Rapper Floppy X also gave a thunderous performance with his songs Nomagugu, Vusabalele and Asifuni Bumbulu.

Floppy X said after leaving fans downhearted at Rainbow Elite 400 concert, Skyz Metro FM Birthday bash created a glorious opportunity to apologise to fans.
“I’m very grateful to Skyz Metro FM who created a concert and invited me to perform with other renowned artistes in Zimbabwe and South Africa. Fans can look forward to receiving spectacular performances in the near future,” he said.
The Skyz Metro FM First Anniversary party lived up to expectations as thousands of people danced to the captivating Kalawa Jazmee sounds, while local artistes like Madlela Sikhobokhobo, Ndolwane Super Sounds and Mzoe7, among others gave unforgettable performances. — @NcubeBhekumuzi
