The Gender and Media Connect has called for campaigns to raise awareness on technology-facilitated gender based violence.

Speaking at a workshop held in Harare on Thursday, the organisation’s programmes officer, Ms Sharon Sithole said capacity-building should target police and judicial officials.

“There is also need to build capacities of service providers and to lobby for laws to align with what is happening in the technology world,” she said.

“We have come up with a mechanism that allows for rapid response to incidents as they happen and these responses should focus on finding the perpetrator, getting them to pay for what they have done and making sure we give support to the people who have been violated.”

Ms Sithole also said there is need to push for software companies to create reporting mechanisms on technology-facilitated GBV.
