AMSTERDAM Youth Network (AYN) has called for the construction of a community library in Hopley to help the study needs of primary and high school students in the area.
AYN president, Munashe Siraha, said many young people in the area struggle to access basic education, and even those who do, face challenges with accessing study facilities.
Munashe said the library will provide a safe space for young people to engage in constructive activities, shielding them from societal vices.
“The community library will not only serve as a hub for academic excellence but also provide a safe space for young people to engage in constructive activities, shielding them from societal vices like drug and substance abuse, teenage pregnancies and environmental pollution.
“We believe that by keeping our young people occupied and engaged, we can empower them to become positive change-makers in their communities.
“We are, therefore, calling on the Government, independent organisations and individuals to support this noble cause by contributing to the construction of the community library,” said Munashe.
