PRESIDENTIAL Affairs and Devolution Permanent Secretary, Engineer Tafadzwa Muguti, has urged Zanu-PF and the Government to continue working closely to expedite development and uplift citizens’ livelihoods.
Eng Muguti made the call at a capacity-building workshop, which was attended by Government officials as well as other stakeholders, including Zanu-PF Mashonaland East provincial officials, in Marondera yesterday.
The event was attended by the Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution for Mashonaland East, Advocate Itayi Ndudzo, as well as the Secretary for Provincial Affairs and Devolution for Mashonaland East, Mr Tavabarira Kutamahufa.
The capacity-building workshop centred on the ‘who does what’ aspect in the province, with strong emphasis on exercising a united front in implementing developmental projects.
Departments and Ministries had the opportunity to outline their roles in advancing development in the province.
In an interview on the sidelines of the workshop, Engineer Muguti said it is prudent for everyone to realise that the development trajectory being implemented was born out of the ruling party’s manifesto and, as such, Zanu-PF should be interested in knowing the milestones achieved to date in terms of development.
“The Transitional Stabilisation Programme, the National Development Strategy 1 and the National Development Strategy 2 are all aligned to the achievement of what was said in the manifesto. So us, as the Office of the President and Cabinet, are interested, as well as the party at provincial, district and village levels, should also be interested to know how far the Government has gone in meeting the aspirations of the manifesto.
“The manifesto is the promise that we gave to the people. We promised them, among other things, jobs, houses, roads and healthcare facilities, so each day, we are measuring ourselves against that manifesto.
“So there is a nexus between the party and the Government, and at the provincial level, we want provincial coordinating committees to meet regularly with the provincial development committees to align, amend certain decisions they made, or restructure them.”
