STAKEHOLDERS in the shipping and forwarding sector have called for the harmonisation of SADC countries’ customs procedures in international trade to improve ease-of-doing business and facilitate the unhindered movement of goods across borders.

Speakers at the Shipping and Forwarding Agents Association of Zimbabwe (SFAAZ) annual general conference, which concluded in Nyanga on Friday, including Zambia’s Ambassador to Zimbabwe, Ambassador Brigadier General Wilson Tembo (Rtd), Mozambique Embassy Deputy Head of Mission Mr Laurindo Lampiao, as well as SFAAZ chief executive officer, Mr Washington Dube, emphasised the need to harmonise customs procedures in the region.

As with previous editions, the 20th SFAAZ annual general conference brought together Government departments and all stakeholders concerned with border operations — from the issuance of permits to licences — with the sole aim of finding solutions to challenges in the industry.
