Call to assist people with disabilities

REVELATION Disability Association of Zimbabwe has appealed to donors to assist people with disabilities and orphans in Ushewokunze, Harare.

The organisation’s chairperson, Reverend Susan Mushoriwa, said their organisation was in need of financial support, clothing and foodstuffs, to assist their members.

“Our mission, as an organisation, is to ensure better welfare for people living with disabilities, and orphans, through feeding them, clothing them and assisting by teaching them life-changing skills.

“Unfortunately, our operations are stifled by lack of resources.

“We, therefore, appeal to well-wishers to join hands with us in our thrust to assist people living with disabilities.

“Some of the major resources we are in need of include money, clothes and food,” said Mushoriwa

She added: “We used to feed our beneficiaries on a daily basis but we are no longer able to do that since we have run out of money and foodstuffs.

“Settlements have also taken over the fields in which we were growing maize for food.

“People living with disabilities, and orphans, face difficulties with access to education, mainly due to walking challenges, lack of school fees and exorbitant transport costs.

“So, I think if we build a school in society, it will be better for them. We have already acquired land to build the structures, but we are facing financial challenges.

“We, therefore, appeal to all those that can assist to come forward.  We wish to see these people progressing in life.”

Revelation Disability Association of Zimbabwe is a legally registered non-profit making organisation.

It currently works with 174 people living with disabilities as well as 80 orphans. It also works with widows and the vulnerable.

It has 98 widows and 40 vulnerable individuals in its register.
