YOUNG women in business have been urged to take up fish farming on a large scale to be able to secure lucrative foreign markets.

In an interview with The Herald recently, Young Women in Business president Mrs Apphia Musavengana said: “We are calling upon all women in fish farming to come on board as we have engaged with fish farmers in Uganda. We went to Kampala, Uganda,, last month with the African Union Bureau for Animal Resources (AUBAR) who were calling upon women and youth in fish farming to come forth and get marketing opportunities in Uganda and other parts of Africa.”

Young Women in Business is a community for emerging female leaders and young professionals who want to create their own success. Based in New York, the organisation has close to 1 000 members drawn from all of Zimbabwe’s 10 provinces.

“Since we started this organisation, almost 300 women have benefited. They did poultry, maize production under Command Agriculture, livestock production and tourism,” said Mrs Musavengana.

Young Women in Business has been working on identifying business opportunities that allow local women to partner with women in other countries.
