People have grown a tendency to only keep track of their wins or successes, but they shove all the failures to the back before they can even do a self-introspection and find suitable solutions to counter the fiascos.

Well, that’s not the story of actor Calvin Madula who confidently uses his failures as motivation to keep him going and to make sure that he becomes the best next time around.

Madula who was nominated for the Outstanding film actor at the just-held Roil Bulawayo Arts Awards recorded his first loss after having won two awards in a row. He lost out to The Signal’s Tawanda Denga. Just-held

“I’m a very competitive, yet supportive person. I’m sad about not winning the award as I was looking forward to having a hat-trick since I already have two awards from the same awards showcase. Nevertheless, I’m ecstatic and happy for my brother-in-arms for bagging the award. It was well deserved,” he said.

A positive Madula went on to encourage people to “always find your WHY!”

“You need to find your WHY as it will help guide and inform you in whatever obstacle that’ll come your way. Finding your Why won’t allow any hardship to hinder you from pursuing your dream. This craft is not a walk in the park, it’s not for the fainthearted. You have to be passionately determined and purposefully disciplined.

“Most importantly you have to grow from what you go through because challenges and hardships are going to be constantly present. But if you know and understand WHY you do what you do, nothing will stop you from being an achiever and that is the method I am applying to all my projects,” he said.

Since the time he ventured into the acting scene, Madula has been trending with his hard work paying off. He recently won Best Actor Southern Africa in Zambia.

The actor is already geared up for the year 2023.

“I’m working on a number of things, the big one being a feature film that’ll introduce my production house, Madula Films. Many are used to seeing Calvin Madula as the guy in front of the camera, but 2023 will show the other side of me that most people did not know. They’ll see that I’m more than just a pretty face in front of the camera.

“2023 is going to be a challenging and special year for me as a creative and storyteller. I’m nervous and super excited about the year. Big things are coming up, so people should definitely be on the lookout.”
