Cameroon begins Sinopharm Covid vaccinations

Cameroon on Monday joined the growing list of African countries using Sinopharm vaccine to inoculate its citizens against COVID-19.

According to media reports, Cameroon is the latest country to receive 200,000 doses of the Sinopharm vaccine by China on Sunday.

Other African countries already using the Sinopharm vaccine include Zimbabwe, Namibia, Gabon, Congo, Egypt, Equatorial Guinea among others.

  Sierra Leone on February 25 also received a consignment of 200,000 doses of China’s Sinopharm COVID-19 vaccine donated by China to support the country’s vaccination campaign. 

In a statement, Cameroon’s Health Minister Malachie Manaouda, said the government encourages the population, especially priority targets to be vaccinated when the time comes.

Cameroon is among one of the most affected countries in Africa recording 61,700 cases of COVID-19 and 919 deaths.
