WARRIORSa legend Madinda Ndlovu, touted as the preferred replacement for want away Highlanders coach Erol Akbay, has reportedly laid out a list of demands if he is to take over the team for the 2018 season.
Ndlovu, older brother to the late Adam and former Warriorsa captain Peter, recently parted ways with Botswana side Orapa United and is currently in Zimbabwe.
He also recently took part in an exhibition match between the Warriors Legends and Barcelona Legends.
The Highlanders executive led by Modern Ngwenya is said to have been engaging Ndlovu to take over from Akbay and revive the fortunes of the ailing Bulawayo giants whose 2017 season has been nothing short of dismal.
But Ndlovu is not coming to Bosso cheap and without guarantees that he will be supported by an able backroom staff.
a?His list of demands includes a kit manager, a fitness manager, a strikersa coach and a goalkeepersa coach in addition to an assistant coach of his choice.A As things stand Highlanders only have a team manager, team doctor and physiotherapist as part of the backroom staff working with Akbay,a? said a well placed source.
And Ndlovu is said to be negotiating for a $5 000 monthly salary, which by Highlanders standards is a very steep asking price considering the club has not signed a new sponsorship deal.
Principal sponsors Banc ABC are not renewing their long standing contract with Bosso that expires at the end of December.
a?As far as rumours go there is probably a committee outside the Highlanders Football Club institution interviewing prospective coaches and that committee will even hire the best candidate,a? sarcastically said club chief executive officer Nhlanhla Dube.
a?The process of engaging the new technical team will only start during the 2018 pre-season period so we have not had any conversations with any coaches to take over from Erol Akbay. Rumours do not dictate how we conduct business at Highlanders,a? said Dube.
Highlanders play Caps United at Barbourfields Stadium in the last match of the 2017 season and incumbent Akbay will travel back to his native Netherlands thereafter.
