Can Whawha make it a double?

WHAWHA are aiming to complete a double over Yadah Stars when they lock horns in a Premier Soccer League match at the National Sports Stadium today.

Whawha won the reverse fixture 1-0 at Ascot.

The Midlands side currently anchor the league table with 19 points.

They are 10 points adrift of Yadah, who are in 11th place.

The Miracle Boys have been one of the best sides in the second half of the season.

They have been enjoying a rich vein of form, going for six matches, without a loss.

Along the way they beat heavyweights like Dynamos.

Whawha have picked up two wins and a draw in their last five games in their relegation survival bid.

Speaking to H-Metro, Whawha head coach, Luke Petros, said they were ready for Yadah.

“We managed to collect maximum points against them in the first leg and I think it will have a bearing on how we will play tomorrow.

“Zimbabwean football always gives the home team an advantage, but we will give it our all.

“We want to collect points for ourselves.

“We are at a critical stage where every point counts.

“So, we are geared up for a fight for honours,” said Petros.

He added:

“Yadah are enjoying their best football and they are in fine form.

“We will treat the game with caution, by trying to avoid conceding early in the game, as they are likely to come at us with all guns blazing.

“But, I think it’s a game which can go both ways, as we all have a chance to win.

“Of late, our guys have regained their confidence.

“The youngsters now believe in the importance of winning matches and they now think it’s doable.

“They are at an advantage because they were active in the Chibuku Super Cup last weekend, while Yadah were on a break.

“We also have Jayden (Bakare), who was said to be leaving.

“He has featured in our previous games and that shows he is with us to stay.”
