ZIMPAPERS’ talk radio station Capitalk 100.4 FM last week donated an assortment of goods to Danai Children’s Home in Harare as part of its corporate social responsibility.

The station’s manager Ms Nyaradzo Makombe and Zimpapers public relations manager (digital and publishing division) Mrs Pauline Matanda handed over the donation, which comprised groceries and blankets, on Friday.

Speaking during the donation ceremony, Ms Makombe said: “As we come to the end of the year, we wanted to give back to our community

“In our fast-paced lives, it is easy to forget the importance of reaching out to those who are less-fortunate, particularly our young ones, who may have faced unimaginable hardships at such an early stage of their lives.”

She said the blankets will provide children at the home with warmth and protection from the vagaries of weather.

“To the children’s home, I extend my deepest gratitude for the tireless efforts you make in shaping the lives of these young ones, and for providing them with a nurturing environment,” she said

Ms Makombe thanked 11-year-old Keisha Mlalazi, who partnered the radio station in donating to the home.

“She saved up her pocket money and bought blankets for every child in the home,” she said.

She also thanked Diamond pharmacies and Chicken Basket restaurant for partnering the station.

Mrs Matanda said Zimpapers values collaborations with other corporates.

“That’s why we are here with our partners to support the children,” she said.

“I would also like to thank Keisha’s mother for raising a kind-hearted and loving child.”

Danai Children’s Home director Mrs Egiphar Kusangaya Mahomva thanked those who contributed to the donation.
