‘Caps a dangerous outfit, without in-house problems’

CAPS UNITED is the team to beat this season if the financial situation at the club remains stable, according to a former player.

Ahead of the Green Machine’s clash against Chicken Inn this afternoon in Bulawayo, former Caps United and Highlanders defender Gift Lunga junior says Caps United are a dangerous outfit when without in-house problems.

“These are two good sides. The game could go either way.

Chicken Inn have had a number of changes in their starting lineup and technical team which could mean they need some time to get the right formula.

Caps United on the other hand have a good squad. If they manage to keep the players happy they are the team to beat any day this season,” said Lunga.

Coach Lloyd Chitembwe has a full complement of the squad to pick from given Makepekepe have a clean bill of health.

Makepekepe top the log standings with 11 points from five games. They will stay top of the table with a win today.

Caps United, however, do not have a good record against Chicken Inn, a side they last beat in 2018.
Last season Chicken Inn completed a double over the Green Machine.

It ended 1-0 in favour of Chicken Inn in Harare and 2-1 in Bulawayo. The previous season Chicken Inn won 1-0 in Bulawayo and 3-1 in Harare.

Caps United’s last victory against the Gamecocks was in 2018. Chicken Inn are winless in their last three matches having attained three consecutive stalemates.

Last Sunday, they failed to defend a one goal advantage to draw 2-2 with Bulawayo Chiefs.

They have only won once this season and drawn four of their five fixtures. Prince Matore, the Chicken Inn coach is not panicking yet and believes they will turn things around as they seek their second league title after they were crowned Zimbabwean champions in 2015.  — Follow on Twitter @innocentskizoe
