Both teams go into the weekend chasing contrasting fortunes with the 2004/2005 league winners Caps United fighting relegation while Dynamos would want to take the opportunity to close the eight-point gap between them and log leaders Highlanders.
DeMbare have two games in hand and should they win those they could find themselves just two points shy of Bosso.
Dynamos have in the last month emerged as true championship contenders rising from mid-table to second on the log with 34 points.
Caps United’s woes could see them risking a high payout to coaches Lloyd Chitembwe and Sean Connor who failed to give reasons to the directors why they should stay on until the end of the season. They were replaced three weeks ago by the duo of Taurai Mangwiro and Mkhuphali Masuku.
It is hoped that these two, who have already lost by identical 1-0 margins to Black Mambas and Highlanders, could make a good combination once their own coaching philosophies gel and also gain the confidence of the low-spirited players.
On paper Dynamos players look the more confident but complacency could prove costly and might shatter their dreams of reducing the gap between themselves and Bosso.
Farai Mupasiti, Tawanda Muparati, Milton Makopa and Denver Mukamba will have a say in the outcome of the result from midfield where most of the two teams’ battles have been won.
The clash will be one of the two matches set for Sunday as the rest will be played on Saturday.
Highlanders remain the team of the moment and this Saturday Kelvin Kaindu takes his magic to Harare to face Harare City who held Hwange at the Colliery Stadium on Sunday.
Kaindu, who has gone 18 matches without a loss, will be eager to make it 19 with free-scoring Milton Ncube leading the attack behind the target man.
Ncube has to date scored 10 goals and if he maintains the present form, a season’s tally of more than 20 goals does not seem far off.
FC Platinum, whose early season championship hopes were high, will be at home to Monomotapa hoping for a change of fortunes and a return to winning ways. Their seventh place on the log with 29 points does not justify their huge investment in quality players.
Quelaton, under Chipo Tsodzo and Danisa Phiri, will entertain Buffaloes of Mutare at Luveve Stadium on Saturday knowing that the clock is ticking the wrong direction for them. They are at the bottom of the log standings with only five points, six behind fellow strugglers Blue Rangers.
Buffaloes are fifth on the log with 31 points.
Chicken Inn, who lost 0-1 to Monomotapa last week, will be home to troubled Shabanie Mine. All is not well in the miners’ camp.
However it took a 0-2 loss to Motor Action last week for coach Luke Masomere to bring that to the nation’s attention.
Against Chicken Inn, Shabanie will be up against a highly motivated opponent. The team will bank on Njabulo Nyoni, Felix Chindungwe and Kudakwashe Mahachi.
Meanwhile, the PSL yesterday released the names of the players who will miss the weekend action after amassing three yellow cards.
The players are Passmore John Bernard (Motor Action), Yves Ebabali (Motor Action), Nyasha Chazika (Blue Rangers), Fungai Mukaira (Blue Rangers), Raphael Manuvire (Harare City), Erea Phiri (Shabanie Mine), Rodney Mware (Shabanie Mine), and Thabani Kamusoko (FC Platinum).
