CAPS midfielder makes SA move

CAPS United midfielder, Tatenda Tavengwa, has made the grade at GladAfrica Championship side, Venda FC, in South Africa.

It follows a month-long trial.

The two parties agreed a one-year deal with an option to extend.

Tavengwa’s contract with Makepekepe was set to expire at the end of this season.

His camp told H-Metro that the deal was done and dusted and they have now engaged the Green Machine to finalise all paperwork.

“The boy has done so well to impress the technical team. He was handed a one-year contract with an option to extend.

“We have approached CAPS United to complete all the paperwork and once it’s done, he will be ready to play,” said his handlers.

The 25-year-old was one of the better players at CAPS United before he got injured halfway through the season.

He had a good partnership in midfield with veteran Devon Chafa.

The box-to-box midfielder had only been at CAPS United for less than six-months.

His move shows that Makepekepe still have what it takes to export players, despite their challenging financial state.

Venda FC recently appointed a youthful coach, Micheal Loftaman, 32.

He’s probably the youngest coach in the South African First Division.

The club was once home to Warriors’ anchorman, Gerald Takwara, who recently joined Saudi Arabian First Division League side Ohod FC.

Takwara was recently in Egypt, for pre-season, with his Saudi club.

He expects to make a huge impression, for his new employers, and even attract interest from top-flight league sides in the oil-rich kingdom.

Zimbabwe internationals, Knowledge Musona, and Ovidy Karuru, also play in Saudi Arabia.
