CAPS old boys’ club

CAPS United are turning to their Old Boys’ Club as they battle to find their touch after a poor start to the season.

The Green Machine, who recruited Ian Bakala to become their coach, have now lured Limited Chikafa to become their team manager.

Makepekepe confirmed his arrival on their official Facebook page with a picture of Chikafa and the team’s marketing officer Alois Bunjira.

Chikafa is filling the void of Shakespeare Chinogwenya who left the club and was assigned to another role at the company that sponsors CAPS United.

“Chinogwenya is still with us, he has been part of this team for a long time, so we decided to assign him to a different role,” said club owner Farai Jere.

“He will be working behind the scenes, that is exactly what his new role requires him to do but he is still with us.”

Bakala said his first mission was to mend cracks at the club.

The Zambian gaffer also highlighted that divisions within the players might have stalled the club from firing on all cylinders.

Chikafa was working at Kwekwe United, as team manager, and was also a ZTN Sport pundit.

His inclusion in the CAPS United was welcomed with excitement by a huge section of fans who responded to the post of his appointment.

Bakala insisted that he is trying to build a team which knows the weight of the badge they are representing.

“I think I found a lot of things that were not correct, which I’m trying to help the boys with.

“Yeah, it takes time for them to know what CAPS United means. But I think they are catching up.

“There’s love. When I came, I think they were looking a bit divided. But now, even in training, you can tell that something is building up, which is good.

“But it’s an obvious case, when it comes to the window, I will bring players who are going to make CAPS United come back to where it belongs,” said Bakala.
