CAPS sign Samakweri

Premiership giants yesterday brought to six the number of players they have bought in a bid to bolster their squad ahead of the 2012 season.
After settling the boardroom problems that were centred on the club directors Twine Phiri and Farai Jere early this week, CAPS United have stepped up their act and have been very active on the transfer market.
Despite claiming that they would not be busy on the market CAPS United have already swooped on Semakweri’s former Monomotapa and Mazembe teammate Darryl Nyandoro as well bustling striker Tawanda Nyamandwe who has arrived from 2010 champions Motor Action.
After finishing a disappointing eighth place last season CAPS United have noted the need to strengthen their side and fight for honours in 2012.
It is against this background that they have also brought in hard working midfielder Conrad Whitby and defender Luckson Kaisa who was signed from Northern Region Division One side Black Rhinos.
But it is the talented former Warriors winger Semakweri who will be the focus of attention of singing a three-year deal with Makepekepe where he will also link up with former Monoz teammates Charles Chiutsa, Nyandoro and Nyamandwe.
Semakweri struggled to get game time at the star studded Democratic Republic of Congo giants and 2009 African champions Mazembe side and decided to pack his bags and revive his career from the home front.
CAPS United vice-president Farai Jere said they are looking forward to a fruitful season and are still chasing one more high profile player before the season begins.
“We just need needed a few additions to the squad we had last season because we believe it is a good squad and it is quite competitive.
“We needed to boost our defence and we have acquired Luckson. We should be signing another defender.
“We believe the club is now in the right frame to challenge for honours next season.
“We have extended the contracts of our head coach Lloyd Chitembwe and his assistant Kennedy Nagoli.
“They are a youthful technical team and are crucial as we are building a strong team for the future,” said Jere.
