CAPS suffer double loss on Pfumbidzai

CAPS UNITED did not receive a dime for the transfer of highly-rated Warriors left-back Ronald Pfumbidzai to Danish top flight side Hobro IK.

The Green Machine had little negotiating muscle as they owed the player, whose contract was due to expire in December, thousands of dollars in unpaid sign on fees and winning bonuses.

Instead of demanding a transfer fee, Makepekepe inserted a 35 percent sell-on clause on their agreement with the Danish side.

Club chief executive Joe Makuvire confirmed no money exchanged hands.

“It is always very difficult to negotiate for such a good player when his contract is due to expire in six months,” he said.

“We did not get anything in terms of transfer fees, but what we managed to do is to insert a sell-on clause of 35 percent in our agreement with Hobro and we are very confident he will make an impact and move to an even bigger club after which we will get some financial gain.”

As part of the agreement, Pfumbidzai also withdrew the labour cases he had filed against Caps United.

Meanwhile, Pfumbidzai has been receiving hundreds of support messages since flying out to Denmark last week.
