The race to secure the signature of Highlanders midfield sensation Mongameli Tshuma is intensifying, with CAPS United and Castle Lager Premier Soccer League newcomers FC Hunters officially expressing interest in the highly rated Warriors midfielder, Zimpapers Sports Hub has learnt.
Highlanders chief executive officer Denzel Mnkandla confirmed that Bosso have received formal enquiries for the services of the 24-year-old attacking midfielder, who has emerged as one of the hottest properties in Zimbabwean football.
While reports have linked CAPS United with a US$100 000 bid for the former Hwange player, Mnkandla revealed that FC Hunters have also entered the race for the talented playmaker.
“We have received official interest from CAPS United and FC Hunters for Mongameli Tshuma,” said Mnkandla.
However, the Highlanders CEO made it clear that Bosso are in no rush to part ways with one of their prized assets, insisting that the club values the player at US$200 000.
“Mongameli remains our player and he is still under contract. As a club, we value him at US$200 000,” Mnkandla added.
Tshuma, who still has two years remaining on his contract, has established himself as one of the most creative and exciting midfielders in the domestic league.
His stock has continued to rise following a string of impressive performances for both Highlanders and the Warriors, attracting growing interest from ambitious clubs.
Speculation over Tshuma’s future intensified after he was spotted in Harare last week during CAPS United’s encounter against Triangle United, where he reportedly spent several days before returning to Bulawayo.
Sources close to the developments indicate that the Green Machine are determined to strengthen their squad as they seek to restore their status among the country’s football elite, while ambitious newcomers FC Hunters alongside defending champions Scottland are also keen to make a major statement in their debut top-flight campaign-@FungaiMuderere
