CAPS United President Farai Jere has confirmed that the club has made an offer to Highlanders for their star forward Mongameli Tshuma.
The Castle Lager Premier Soccer League transfer window opened yesterday with clubs permitted to sign up to five players before the 31 July deadline.
The Green Machine has already used up four of those slots, with the final slot being reserved for the potential arrival of Tshuma.
“It’s very true, we have submitted our offer to Highlanders, and they are considering it,”Jere said while appearing on ZTN Prime’s weekly football magazine show, The Couch.
“We are not worried about anything or anyone in the market. I want him to come to CAPS United, but if someone bids more, then let it be. Our interest is very clear. He is a very good player. Our offer to Highlanders is very attractive. Even the other conditions we have put in.”
Jere shed further light on the proposed deal, highlighting incentives he hopes will get the deal over the line.
“The transfer window is now open, and we are only allowed to register five players. One of the sweeteners we have put in our offer is that we buy him from Highlanders, and we loan him back. His salaries will be paid by CAPS United. We do not want to destabilise Highlanders, but we are also thinking about our future.”
CAPS have done their business early during the mid-season window, signing two goalkeepers, Warriors goalkeeper Washington Arubi and Botswana international Victor James.
They have also brought in the Malawian duo of Precious Phiri and Vunga Uchizi. Additionally, the club has retained DRC striker Chris Mugalu, who returns after missing the first half of the season.
