Telone 1-1 Caps United
CAPS United were held to a one-all draw by TelOne in a Castle Lager Premier Soccer League match played at Bata Stadium.
Hastings Chapusha gave Makepekepe the lead after 22 minutes guiding home Godknows Murwira’s free kick but the home side restored parity through Fradrick Muza moments before the break.
Caps United coach Lloyd Chitembwe summed up his side’s performance as “frustrating” as the Harare side are now winless in their last four matches.
“Frustrating! Naturally, the result is quite frustrating because at some point we were leading,” he said.
The former Cup Kings are seventh on the log standings with 19 points while TelOne remain in the relegation zone placed 15th with a meagre 13.
But the WiFi Boys gaffer Herbert Maruwa is optimistic that his side will turn the tide despite being winless in 10 matches having last won when beating Hwange 1-0 at the Colliery Stadium in April.
“I am happy with the performance, the way the boys are responding although we had a few good chances in the first-half,” Maruwa said.
“Gradually we are getting there, I can see light at the end of the tunnel, we cannot see changes after three matches.”
The home side were the first to settle and nearly breached their opponents’ defence after three minutes only for Muza to send his effort wide.
It was Caps United, however, who took the lead with Chapusha guiding home Murwira’s cross off a set piece.
The lead did not last long as the hosts levelled matters before the break with Muza nodding home a Sahondo corner.
After that goal, Caps United dominated play but failed to get the winner as the WiFi Boys remained resolute to earn a point.
