IF there is one man who will have a rather bizarre Sunday afternoon when Caps United roll into town to face Tenax C.S FC, it is Lloyd Chinawa who has vowed not to celebrate goals from either teams.

Under normal circumstances, football followers jump in jubilation when their team finds the net and drop their heads in melancholy when their team concedes a goal.

But the script is certainly different for Tenax C.S FC’s executive member, Chinawa who is widely known in local football circles for his undying passion for the Green Machine.

This time around, Chinawa finds himself yearning for a Tenax C.S FC victory and at the same time having a soft spot for the Lloyd Chitembwe-coached Caps United.

The man admits that a crazy feeling engulfs him as he looks ahead to Sunday’s Castle Lager Premiership encounter.

“It’s a funny feeling to be honest. However, the truth of the matter is that I am at Tenax C.S FC to win matches against any club including my favorite team in Zimbabwe which is Caps United.

“Apparently, Caps United are being coached by my close friend, Lloyd Chitembwe. We come a long way and I also feel for him in every assignment he faces,” he said.

“Yes, everyone has a childhood team and I have been a staunch follower of that team (Caps United). But I feel honoured to be here (Tenax C.S FC) and I will give the team undivided attention going forward. My full support for the team is guaranteed. The history of this team and its endowment with the fans in Manicaland is something everyone will seek to be part of. I am glad to be part if a team which is the future of football, not only in Manicaland, but the whole country. I will add value to this brand which l have always followed passionately.”

Chinawa is happy with the correctional services outfit’s marginal improvement, especially last weekend’s surprise one nil triumph over ZPC Kariba away at Nyamhunga Stadium in Kariba.

“We have improved as a team and we are not going to make it easy for Caps United. Of course, they are in good form and they want to go up the ladder and on our part we have also picked our first three away crucial points and we also want to go up the ladder.

“We cannot afford to drop points at home. It is a crazy feeling, but I just hope and pray that Tenax C.S FC will be the better team of the day and wins the encounter,” said Chinawa.

Apparently, Tenax C.S FC comes into Sunday’s match after some disturbances in their camp following the club’s assistant coach, Blessing Madombi’s walking out a disciplinary hearing, rendering himself out of the Mutare Premiership side’s technical department.
Tenax C.S FC chairman, Stefan Masina confirmed the development.

“We had differences that we sought to redress and we still hope that when emotions settle, he may be redeployed elsewhere within the Tenax C.S FC family. He has always been one of us in our journey from Division One, therefore we appreciate his services for the time he has been with the senior men’s team,” said Masina.

And Chinawa thinks this will not disturbance their rhythm.

“In any organisation or club, there is hiring and firing, so we have to deal with the situation on the ground and we have told our players to remain focused. Of course, we will miss him on the bench, but life goes on. The club is bigger than everyone including myself,” said Chinawa.

The former Young Warriors and Highway FC team manager urged football fans in Mutare to throng Sakubva Stadium for Sunday’s match.

“I am urging our supporters to come in their numbers and push our boys. We just have to preserve these slots that we have in the top-flight league so that we continue enjoying the game we all dearly love on our doorstep,” said Chinawa.
