CAPS United Football Club launched a new kit on Wednesday and declared that nothing short of the league title will be acceptable in 2026.
The Harare giants, who endured a disappointing campaign last season to finish in a lowly ninth position with just 43 points, are undergoing a significant overhaul.
At the heart of this transformation is a renewed sense of purpose, driven by Club President Farai Jere.
Speaking at the team’s training camp during the kit unveiling, club CEO Morton Dodzo made it clear that the days of mid-table obscurity are over.
He reaffirmed the club’s unwavering ambition to reclaim its place at the summit of Zimbabwean football.
“This is going to be a different year where we are going to be challenging for the championships,” said Dodzo.
The event was used not only to showcase the team’s new playing colours but also to set the tone for a season of high expectations.
In line with this massive revamp, the Green Machine has been active in the transfer market.
The club have moved swiftly to secure key targets to bolster the squad, with Dodzo confirming that most of Coach Takesure Chiragwi’s wish list has been fulfilled.
Notable new arrivals include striker Obriel Chirinda, midfielder Nyasha Gurende, and goalkeeper Wallace Magalane, all of whom are expected to play pivotal roles in the title charge.
To ensure the squad is battle-ready for the challenges ahead, CAPS United lined up a rigorous pre-season programme.
The team faced tough international opposition in Malawi, in friendly matches designed to test their tactical cohesion and resilience.
CAPS United will be opening their Castle Lager Premier Soccer League match against AGAMA.
Midfielder Tanaka Shandirwa believes they are now in a position to compete.
“We have been gelling as a team over the weeks and we hope to see us being able to perform well come the league games.
“We are starting with AGAMA and we are ready to collect maximum points,” he said.
