CAPS Utd confident

Machine is confident that they could turn it all around at the National Sports Stadium on Sunday.
The excitement has been building this week ahead of the 67th edition of the Harare Derby, which carries with it bragging rights for the bitter rivals.
Dynamos have enjoyed an upper hand in recent meetings after beating the Green Machine three times, with one game ending in a share of the spoils, in their last four clashes.
However, CAPS United chief executive Maxwell Mironga yesterday was upbeat the Green Machine will stop Dynamos’ dominance on Sunday.
“It’s always exciting whenever CAPS United and Dynamos play. So we are appealing to the fans from both sides, and the neutrals, to come in their numbers,” said Mironga.
The gate charges have been pegged from US$3, US$5, US$10 for VIP and US$20 for VVIP.
Gates will be opened at 11am and the CAPS United academies from Pamushana and Gutu schools will clash in the curtain raisers’ match at midday.
“This is a big game and we chose to play at the National Sports Stadium after taking into consideration what happened at Rufaro when Zimbabwe played Mali two weeks ago.
“Thousands were turned away but we don’t foresee such problems at the National Sports Stadium because of its capacity. It also has big parking space and a good family environment,” said Mironga.
Last year, Dynamos won the first leg of their league encounters 2-1 with goals from Evans Gwekwerere and Dylan Chivandire sealing victory.
Nyasha Mushekwi pulled one back for the Green Machine.
The reverse fixture ended in a 0-0 stalemate but Dynamos ended the year with the bragging rights after dispatching the Green Machine 3-2 in the final of the BancABC Sup8r tournament.
They extended their dominance to the 2011 season when they won the Bob ’87 Cup after a vintage performance from both sides early this season, to set the tone for the eagerly awaited derby.
“Of course they have dominated but this is a big game where championship character is shown.
“I am predicting victory for CAPS United this time around. I have a strong feeling that we will do it.
“And one thing, we are not going to increase the incentives because we are facing Dynamos. We don’t want to put the team under pressure.
“This game is self-motivating to the players. They all need to do well against Dynamos,” said Mironga.
He urged the CAPS United to rally behind coach Moses Chunga and the team.
“We should be behind our team as a united family. I am saying to our fans let us support our team through and through because the objective at the end of the day is to collect maximum points.
“There are only two games left before the halfway mark and we would want to finish the first 15 games on a good position.
“I know there is a section of fans that boos and shouts at the team if things are not up to their expectations.
“I would like to urge those people to desist from such behaviour because it ends up putting unnecessary pressure on the players and the coaches. It has a psychological strain on the and in the end their confidence and the game plan is affected,” said Mironga.
